It is refreshing to see a renovation that preserves the integrity of a space while making it just that much better. So is the case at 3 Arlington Street, Unit 25. Drawn to the “old world” elegance and charm of Oxford Courts (built in Porter Square in the ‘30s), she also preferred a more open plan found in modern buildings. So, soon after she purchased in 2011, she opened up the unit and replaced the kitchen with one that is pretty and has room to work in. The result is a space that is both comfortable and elegant and which retains many of the iconic details of the building but also offers better connections and functionality. And speaking of connections, the convivial community at Oxford Courts has been family to her and the opportunity to live in the heart of Porter Square with its many shops and restaurants, access to the Red Line/Commuter Rail and the Avon Hill neighborhood has been a gift. It is her hope that the next lucky person to own unit 25 will enjoy the space and the location just as much as she has.
