Bucharest B
This villa with a generous area was built at the end of the 19th century - the beginning of the 20th century, during the modernization of Bucharest. Classified as a class B historical monument, it stands out for its facade with multiple decorative elements. The building with a ground floor, two floors and an attic has a large built area of ??2,500 square meters and a usable area of ??2,000 square meters. The wide construction, with 30 rooms and the central location, on a quiet street, creates the premises for an investment with a hotel destination. Currently the building has gone through a vast stage of consolidation and restoration. The project concerned the following works: structural consolidation, facade painting, roof restoration, foundation waterproofing, installation restoration, interior plastering.
After nationalization, the building became the headquarters of Romania Film, hosting numerous cultural events after 1990. Since 2006, it has been in private ownership.
The eclectic architecture of the building is typical of the Belle Époque period, when the Romanian elites were inspired by the rules and fashion of Paris. Ulysse de Marsilla, a French journalist settled in Bucharest in 1852, wrote: "Enter the salon and you will already be in Paris. The most elegant furniture, the most modern and refined costumes, conversation chosen in the language of our most distinguished circles, glittering chandeliers, flowers adorning the consoles, songs flowing over the rosewood edges of the pianos, or flowing from the lips of the girls. There is nothing missing that constitutes civilization at its best. "
