In a place located to the south of the island is the town of Es Migjorn Gran, formerly called San Cristóbal.
It originated in 1769 thanks to the efforts of a group of men from Ferreries, guided by Cristóbal Barber, who gave his name to the original hermitage around which the peaceful little village was formed.
There, D. Francisco Camps Mercadal was born and practiced his profession as a doctor, a notable historian and folklorist, a patient researcher of the customs, stories, and songs of the rural sector.
The municipal term of Es Migjorn Gran is the region with the richest megalithic monuments in all of the Balearic Islands, with a density of 5 prehistoric remains per Km2; as its parish priest wrote in a graphic phrase at the beginning of the last century, the entire municipal term is a talayot. Among the main remains of the past, the grandiose Cova des Colom stands out, with proportions of a cathedral; the hypostyle room of Binigaus and the colossal talayot of Sant Agustí Vell, whose large chamber is uniquely significant in archaeology.
The beaches of Santo Tomas and Binigaus are also within the municipal term of Es Migjorn Gran.
The town has a series of hiking routes along the Camí de Cavalls, as well as a circular route of 2.8 km that circumnavigates the town to admire the typical orchards and local customs.
Set of two accommodations with capacity for up to 10 people, which can be reserved independently (Apartment for 2 guests, main house for 8 guests, or entire house with a total capacity of 10 people) located in the town of Es Migjorn Gran, in the center-south of the island with easy access to the beaches of Santo Tomás and local hiking routes of great ecological value.
